A Tentative Design of a Future Internet Research Domain Landscape

Abstract

The lack of domain landscape on Future Internet research appears to be a potential topic of interest for researchers for the elaboration of a research roadmap and related challenges for the next 10 years. It would help to reach a broader understanding of the location and articulation of the various concepts. Exploring the research domain landscape of FI was an exciting task as well as drafting the map with area bubbles inhabiting the various territories. During this work, a territory of "computing" emerged as a necessary area bubble linking more recent concepts. This work was performed as a diversion in the "Smart City - Living Lab - Future Internet" study we are currently contributing to within the Fireball project. Developing a domain landscape like this one is an interesting task for researchers to identify and select the most relevant concepts. However, it would logically require the participation and contribution of the whole FI research community. We hope that this first tentative and issued landscape map will motivate enough other researchers for contributing to its future development.
Ce papier présente une première version d'un "landscape" sur les recherches portant sur l'Internet du Futur. Ce travail est motivé par l'action de coordination au niveau européen Fireball "Smart Cities - Future Internet - Living Labs".
