Dynamic Rebalancing of an Assembly Line with a Reachability Analysis of Communicating Automata

Abstract : This article proposes a method for dynamically rebalance an assem-bly line when disturbances occur, by reassigning the tasks to the line's work-stations. The method is based on reachability analysis of an automata network that represents the tasks and workstations to be performed. The execution trace leading to the desired state provides one feasible solution to rebalance the as-sembly line. The method is illustrated by an industrial case study.
