Chaining Data and Visualization Web Services for Decision Making in Information Systems

Abstract : Decision making in information systems increasingly relies on analyses of data in visual formats which are created from distributed heterogeneous data belonging to the separate organizations. This paper presents distributed service architecture for creating and managing the production of knowledge from distributed collections of data sources through integrated dataviews. Web Services provide key low level capability but do not define an information or data architecture. These are left to domain specific capabilities metadata and domain specific common data model. Datasets are considered to be defined with domain specific spatial and non-spatial attributes for displaying and querying. We propose blueprint architecture and define the principles and requirements for general information systems domains.
