Evaluation of iLogDemons Algorithm for Cardiac Motion Tracking in Synthetic Ultrasound Sequence

Résumé

In this paper, we evaluate the iLogDemons algorithm for the STACOM 2012 cardiac motion tracking challenge. This algorithm was previously applied to the STACOM 2011 cardiac motion challenge to track the left-ventricle heart tissue in a data-set of volunteers. Even though the previous application showed reasonable results with respect to quality of the registration and computed strain curves; quantitative evaluation of the algorithm in an objective manner is still not trivial. Applying the algorithm to the STACOM 2012 synthetic ultrasound sequence helps to objectively evaluate the algorithm since the ground truth motion is provided. Di fferent con figurations of the iLogDemons parameters are used and the estimated left ventricle motion is compared to the ground truth motion. Using this application, quantitative measurements of the motion error are calculated and optimal parameters of the algorithm can be found.
