Wireless Sensors Embedded in Concrete

Abstract : Efficient embedded antennas are needed for future wireless structural health monitoring. The properties of patch antennas with concrete are investigated at 860MHz. Simulations for different cases (different concrete permittivity and tangent loss) with and without the presence of steel reinforcements are performed using ANSYS HFSS software for 3-D full-wave electromagnetic field simulation and some experimental results are presented.
