Abstract : The development of tools for the simulation of virtual landscapes is an important issue for investigating the relationships between landscape, biophysical processes and their actors. We are interested in simulating realistic crop allocations. We formalize the simulation process as a generic problem of graph decomposition into subgraphs (graph-packing problem). This problem is highly combinatorial and we propose to solve it using answer set programming (ASP). The article compares several ASP programs and indicates how to integrate expert knowledge to simulate landscapes corresponding to the user needs.
