A simple Adaptive Dynamics model to study the effect of global warming on marine phytoplankton

Abstract : We developed a simple phytoplankton thermal evolutionary model using the Adaptive Dynamics method. We validated the model on 57 phytoplankton growth rate versus temperature data sets. The evolutionary optimal growth rate for a given species is higher than the mean annual temperature and depends on the annual temperature fluctuations. Some areas seem to be more sensitive than others to temperature.
