A spatially varying mathematical representation of the biventricular cardiac fiber architecture

Abstract : We propose a framework for modeling complex, spatially varying fiber fields on arbitrary biventricular geometries. Using insights from histological observations we define the fiber direction in terms of a local reference system and two parametric fiber angle families on the epi- and endocardial surfaces. We then use classical harmonic extensions to interpolate the surface angle values to the whole volumetric, biventricular domain.
