Abstract : We present a rhythm transcription system integrated in the computer-assisted composition environment OpenMusic. Rhythm transcription is the act of translating a series of dated events to a structured, pulsed representation linked with traditional music notation. Our system favours interaction with users in order to find a satisfactory balance between various criteria, in particular the precision of the transcription and the readability of the produced music scores. This system is based on a uniform approach, using hierarchical representations of duration notation in the form of rhythm trees, and an efficient algorithm to lazily enumerate the possible transcriptions. It is run through a dedicated interface allowing to explore the solution space, visualise and edit the transcriptions, taking special care of grace notes.
