Impedance Transmission Conditions for the Electric Potential across a Highly Conductive Casing

Abstract : Borehole through casing resistivity measurements are a common procedure when trying to obtain a better characterization of the Earth's subsurface. In this work, motivated by realistic con gurations, we consider the conductivity of the casing to be dependent to the thicnkess of the casing to the power of -3. We derive Impedance Transmission Conditions (ITCs) for the static case of the electric potential, set in an axisymmetric borehole shaped domain. The asymptotic models are derived employing two different approaches, which deliver two classes of asymptotic models. In this work we present the formal derivation and the proofs for the validation of the models, along with some numerical results and applications.
