Simulación de ondas explosivas usando OpenFOAM

Abstract : The rapid release of energy in explosive processes produces intense shock waves (blast waves). The interaction of these waves with obstacles can be extremely destructive. This paper explores the capabilities of OpenFOAM free distribution software, using the rhoCentralFoam solver, for the modeling of these processes using only gas dynamics concepts. To verify the proper functioning of these numerical tools, the simulation of shock waves propagation is performed and the numerical results are compared with the analytical Sedov solution for explosions in cylindrical geometry. The comparison is focused on the shock position and velocity as well as the pressure jump through the shock.
