Abstract : The logistic model is usually expressed as an ordinary differential equation (ODE). This model is in fact a macroscopic and deterministic representation of a microscopic and stochastic model. We recall the stochastic formulation of this phenomenon in the the form of a birth and death process. We propose also a formulation at an intermediate scale as a stochastic differential equation (EDS). Finally, we propose a moment closure method of the jump model. We study, in particular by using simulations, the relationship existing between these different formulations and their respective char- acteristics.
