Bilateral Blue Noise Sampling: Additional Algorithms and Applications

Abstract : Blue noise sampling is an important component in many graphics applications, but most of the prior techniques consider mainly the spatial positions of samples, making them less effective when handling features, such as image color and surface geometry. We apply the bilateral blue noise dart throwing method in [Chen et al. 2013] to graphics applications including image/video stippling and nonlinear filtering. We also propose a bilateral Lloyd relaxation method which works comparably with the kernel based bilateral relaxation method in [Chen et al. 2013].
