Abstract : We propose efficient approximate solutions to large size physical facility layout by using two genetic algorithm approaches. Two encoding are formulated : a direct encoding for which specific genetic operators are designed and a mixed encoding where a generator (a placement algorithm) is built to obtain efficient solutions.
