Fieldbuses and interoperability

Fieldbuses are playing a more and more important role in automation systems. This paper presents the state of of the arts of fieldbuses.The analasysis starts with fieldbuses history and explain the reasons of the proliferation of the different fieldbuses.It describes the requirement , the main traffic characteristiucs and the typical time constraints to met. Finally the property of interoperability is analysed.
