The research and a possible future for fieldbuses

Résumé

The fieldbuses take more and more a major place in automation systems, in embedded systems, and in building automation. They are more and more numerous. In view of this state of affairs, the question on the future and on the research to be developed is running through all the heads. This paper tries to answer this question indicating some ways to be investigated in order to solve pending questions. Two classes of question are identified, on one hand on the application design, modelisation and validation, on the other hand on the executive support, protocols and operating systems. There is an important need for : - New modelling methods ans techniques for validation of operational architectures, - test generation techniques, -development tools allowing a maximum interoperability between equipment for a system, -more dynamical protocols and resources allocation.
