Abstract : This chapter aims to identify the specific characteristics of in-vehicle embedded systems. It presents the functional domains and the standardized components, models, and processes that constraint their development. In-Vehicle Networks and Protocols, specific Operating Systems and Middleware are described as well as Architecture Description Languages for Automotive Applications Finally, the chapter develops the certification issue of safety-critical in-vehicle embedded systems.
