J. Merlet, 01) is senior researcher at INRIA Sophia Antipolis -Mediterranee, where he leads the COPRIN project-team. His research interest are interval analysis (for the management of uncertainties in the design and control of robots), parallel robots and assistive robotics, Merlet was an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Robotics and is currently Associate Editor of Mechanism and Machine Theory and of the ASME Journal of Mechanisms and Robotics. He was General Chair of the 2007 IFToMM World Congress and of the 2008 IEEE/RSJ IROS Conference
