A test bench for tight glycemic control algorithms based on a set of virtual ICU patients
Abstract
Considerable controversy has emerged as to whether tight glucose control (TGC) is warranted in all critically ill adult patients. Recently, a new blood glucose upper limit (10 mmol/L) has been assessed as more appropriate. Rather than blood glucose target ranges, algorithms used to achieve TGC should be numerically evaluated before initiating clinical trials (preclinical validation test). Our purpose was to assess performances of TGC algorithms in realistic virtual ICU patients.
