Abstract : This paper discusses the gestures of future French foreign language teachers when they engage in a vocabulary explanation task with native and non-native speakers of French. The presenters will discuss differences in verbal strategies, vocabulary used, gesture rate, use of gesture space and types of gestures in both conditions.
