3D Gaussian descriptor: a new descriptor for 3D models

Abstract : This paper presents a new approach to 3D shape comparison and retrieval based on the computation of Gaussian transforms of the surface model on a set of points regularly distributed inside the model's bounding box. A study of the properties of the Gaussian term leads us to an efficient computation of the description. This method is evaluated on the Princeton Shape Benchmark database.
