Abstract : The masses of bioinformatic data available in the Web for molecular biology are constantly increasing. Accessing and conjointly making use of such data is imperative to make new discoveries in Biology. The purpose of this article is to provide the reader with all the necessary pointers to identify bioinformatic reference databases for molecular biology, to familiarize the reader on the problems posed by the joint use of these distributed and highly heterogeneous data, to draw a panorama of systems offering unified data access and to guide users in choosing such a system, able to meet their needs.
