Preconceito racial e desempenho escolar: estudo com negros e brancos em escolas de Salvador (Ba)

Abstract : This article aims to discuss questions about racial prejudice in one of the variables related to inaquality in academicperfomance among black and white children. Thinking of it, this article presents and analyzes part of the results abouta study that investigated if there are differences of perfomance among black and white students at the same socioeconomicprofile at schools of the Projeto Estudo Longitudinal da Geração Escolar 2005 (GERES), in Salvador between the years of2005 and 2007. To attend this goal, it was designed a study in two steps: the first was about quantitative matter for datastreatment available at the data base of the Projeto GERES; the second one was about qualitative and quantitative matter, itwas built through on analysis techniques in files and semistructured interviews aimed to comprehend and analyze the resultsof the school perfomance indicated in the first step. On the results that shown differences in academic perfomances amongblack and white students with the same socioeconomic level was select three schools (two public schools and one privateschool) for more work. In these schools, from the reports of the directors, teachers and students, it was possible to collectdatas that show experiences of racial prejudice on the didatic pedagogical tools, like textbook, posters and others, in relationbetween student-student and teacher-student.
