Factors Influencing Productization of Enterprise Modeling: A Qualitative Inquiry into the Scandinavian Strand of Methods and Tools

Abstract : Enterprise Modeling (EM) methods and tools have been developed and successfully used for more than two decades yet their adoption in organizations is mostly ad hoc. Only a few EM methods and tools have become successful products despite being theoretically sound and having certain success in application in practice. This grounded theory inquiry ponders on what factors influence the successful productization of EM methods and tools. Among the factors discussed are EM maturity gap, method and tool development process, application context, marketing and sales aspects, as well as product aspects.
