Managing Expectations: Freeness and the Fourier Matrix
Résumé
We introduce a new criterion depending on the concept of traffic-independence that can be used to rule out freeness between an i.i.d. diagonal matrix and another matrix. This sheds new light on a conjecture mentioned in [1], answering the conjecture negatively in many cases.
