Sécurité et numérique : Entre fantasmes d'efficacité et violations avérées des droits fondamentaux

Abstract : The opening of the digital space extends security issues within this new space. On the one hand, new legal provisions regulate actions considered reprehensible within it; on the other hand, monitoring tools are gradually extending to this space. The generalization of digital tools leads to an explosion of digital traces produced by people. If not strictly supervised, the collection of this manna by security services can lead to violations of people's fundamental rights. This is particularly the case with mass collection tools such as IMSI catchers and traffic analysers. Another major danger concerns the implicit use of administrative biometric files for police purposes (TES file), and the abusive extension of the latter (FNAEG). These abuses pledge for a strict control of the use of digital and biometric technologies, without yielding to the fascination of what is technically feasible.
