Abstract : What best solution for the user's query has been the major research interest in IRS. Hidden in this main objective are several identified problem fields. We present here two related problem fields that have not been well studied and integrated into IRS applications. We propose a model for describing IRS problems in the application of bibliographic references. This model should help for the calculation of the degree of similarity between two information retrieval problems so that the use of CBR techniques can be improved. We are working on the implementation of the model in our system METIORE that allows various levels of information access to bibliographic references
