The proposed commentary of the Coptic Psalm to Jesus (n° 245) intends to underline some of the fundamental characteristics of Manichaean Christology. If Jesus is supposed to be born from a humble woman, he is also the subject of a precise Manichaean piety. The Manichaean understanding of Jesus' figure implies a cosmic role of the Cross of Light. As Light-Mind of the human soul, he also is to help ordinary auditors practising the necessary requirements of an ascetic life.
