Numerical Optimization for Frictional Contact Problems

Abstract : The aim of this report is to show how one may reformulate the contact problems as an optimization programming and using numerical methods to solve the problems. We consider the problem of simulating the dynamics of mechanical systems involving unilateral contact and the Coulomb friction. The fact that these problems are dicult to numerically solve and even the mathematical properties of convergence of algorithms are required some strong assumptions.
