Ciardelli, Roelofsen, and Theiler (2017) have shown how a Montague-like semantic frame- work based on inquisitive logic allows for a uniform compositional treatment of both declarative and interrogative constructs. In this setting, a natural question is the one of the relation between the intensional and the inquisitive interpretation of a declarative sen- tence. We tackle this problem by defining an embedding of intensional semantics into in- quisitive semantics, in the spirit of de Groote’s and Kanazawa’s (2013) intensionalization procedure. We show that the resulting inquisiti- vation procedure preserves intensional validity and entailment.
