Working with a computational model for high frequency stimulation
Résumé
Despite real therapeutic successes, the fundamental physiological mechanisms underlying the effect of deep brain stimulation are still not understood. Several attempts have been made to explore these mechanisms with computational models. Unfortunately so far mathematical models have not had a significant impact on mainstream research on deep brain stimulation in Parkinson's disease. In this paper we report our internship experience working with a computational model proposed by Rubin and Terman in 2004 which is among the most realistic and comprehensive models published recently.
